Thick Section Composite Ultrasonic Testing
The new generation, advanced materials like multilayered composite structures offer distinct advantages over its metallic counterparts due to its reduced weight, high stiffness, corrosion resistance etc provided the bonding is correct and of high quality during its manufacture. A Guided Wave, Acousto - Ultrasonic system can provide for use of oblique angle, Pulse - Echo, Ultrasonic techniques to scan thick sections, Single or Multilayer composite structures for determination of integrity of bonded areas. This system is portable, field application oriented and essentially facilitates inspection with need for access from only one side of the test specimen. The system is capable of performing both fully automated and free motion manual scans.
There are 2 major subsystems that comprise in the system configuration viz. (a) Host Ultrasonic Data Acquisition System and (b) a Portable Automated Mechanical Scanning System.
The offered system is a completely computer controlled system. The host UT system will have Low Frequency optimized Analog to Digital Converter boards, a Motion Control / Encoder Interface board, an Arbitrary Waveform Generator Board, Ultrasonic Inspection (A, B, C Scan) and Motion control software's, Data analysis and reporting capabilities with a very user -friendly Windows-based operator interface, AE pre-amplifiers, Miniature AE Sensors with wedges etc. The scanning system is an automated X-Y (dual axis) Portable scanner with a completely adjustable, multi-head sensor mounting assembly and mounting adaptors.
